Today I asked for the numbers. There are a lot of animals was wondering how may exactly so they gave me the numbers. There are a total of 11 dogs, about 15 cats, 72 horses at the organization (we own a couple of nature parks where we place horses as well) a total of 173 horses. There are 25 more horses to come from future rescues and there are 6 foals that are yet to come. Some horses here are really abused, think about horses that are used as an ashtray or hit with broomsticks on their heads. Most horses here are emaciated.

Last night we had a big thunderstorm and it was raining really really hard, everyone in the house was awake at 4:30 AM because of it. I am not a big fan of the thunderstorms and because we're in a valley it was a bad one and a long one. When the storm somehow did manage to pass the mountain it calmed down pretty quickly. In my last post, I talked about how much respect I had for the girls dragging the bales of hay while being ankle deep in mud, I only have more respect for them now. I had a first-hand experience of how hard that is.

Today was my first day off and I decided that the weather would finally be good enough to do what I had been wanting to do for a while now, giving Torda a bath. I washed her tail and feet and cleaned the worst spots on her body and she seemed to enjoy it. She's a sweetheart and she didn't mind me touching her while some horses here do. I decided to walk to the village and bought a lot of food because well, all they buy here is soda and dinner. I needed some sparkly water and snacks. So I got them. The village is as small as it is confusing. Almadén de la Plata (the village) has about 1.500 inhabitants while Sevilla, a city about an hour away, has 690.500 inhabitants. But we managed to find the Dia which is one of the biggest supermarkets in Almadén, and the title one of the biggest doesn't say much because most of the supermarkets are the size of an average living room. Later today I was helping with bringing around bins of food on my day off because all the girls were test riding the horses which left us with two girls who had to do all the tasks. I helped because two girls for tasks we normally do with 7 or 8 is a lot and I had nothing to do anyway. When I brought the food to one of the mares I noticed that her foot was wet and then I saw some red which led me to a pretty big wound on her leg. I knew she got stuck in a fence yesterday but at the time it seemed to be just a graze but it seemed like a lot more, it even looked infected. We took care of the wound and she took it like a champ. I hope the cut wasn't to the bone as I thought it was. I did take some pictures which I won't be uploading because some of you might now want to see it.
